Once upon a time, there was a hidden path. A hidden path that led to a mountain fairytale. There were two guardians at the gate. Their names were Jela (eng. Fir) and Smreka (eng. Spruce). The legend says that they were the first one who discovered this area. Even though we don’t exactly know what they looked like, according to legend they were almost three meters tall, had long wrinkled hair and they were beautiful.
Since the landscape was so high, they named it Gorski (which means mountain in Croatian) kotar. Jela wanted to protect this one-of-a-kind natural exhibit and she forbade any mankind to cross these lands. Smreka tried to convince Jela to allow people in. In the end, people are a part of nature as well. She didn’t want this beauty to be left unseen.
One day they had a terrible fight. All birds flew away, all the reindeers went to hide. There was a huge storm that day. After the fight, all that was left behind was silence. They decided that it wasn’t their decision to end the fairytale. Nobody ever saw them after the fight. Some people say that they killed each other. Some people say that the storm started a fire and that what remained is only a small portion. Some believe that, up to this day, they’re still watching over the mountains. One way or the other, they’ve let us in. They’ve let you in. So you can create your own mountain fairytale ending.
JELA AND SMREKA

This is our first visit to Gorski Kotar and it is not enough to say that we are delighted.
We visited Golubinjak Forest Park, Roswell Village, had lunch at the Bijela Ruža, and now we are leaving the best for our return

The house is beautiful, decorated like a small old mountain home, but it can still be seen that it is very new. It has great modern accessories that fit perfectly with this old-fashioned environment. The fireplace is top, it's great. I like every little detail in this house. The jacuzzi and sauna are really great and I like that it changes colors.
